The need to lift the front of the Excel along with a slightly stiffer spring rate has often meant a set of custom springs, however working with my local Pedders. We found that a 180 pound spring with a 40 mm lift can be achieved with a bog standard Nissan/Ford Pintarra/Corsair spring, these are about $25 each at most wreckers, while they are timed slightly differently they don't appear to change the geometry of the front end. Given these were orginally made for Ford and Nissan by Lovells they should be OK for those on a budget.

less than 1 1/2 inch the old language is OK if you cut the spring so it is timed the same as a Excel spring it is about 30mm.

Chris from King Springs said that, the "KDRL-115" (Front Low for N14/N15 Pulsar) will suit the front of an Excel at Standard height. They are 230lb/inch.

Shake does that mean all standard Pulsar springs are 230?

I couldn't say. I was only told it was the Front "Low" Spring for the N14/15 that was 230lb. You could email Chris Tarrent, at King springs, as he may be able to give you more info.

Just fitted the Nissan/Ford springs, the springs are actually timed exactly the same as the Excel except they are rated at 230Ibs hence provide a much firmer front end and more importantly lift the nose off the deck. Also replaced all bushes in the rear end makes for much tighter car.

Sorry for dragging up an ancient thread.
Did you use regular used standard U12 pintara springs? Or aftermarket standard replacements? (King etc.) |
